Hospitalar 2008 sets new records in number
of visitors and business deals.
The largest healthcare fair in Latin America expects, a 20%
growth for 2009.
|
|
HOSPITALAR, the largest healthcare fair in Brazil and Latin
America, has closed the 2008 edition with very positive results.
From June 10th to 13th, in São Paulo, the fair registered
78,000 professional visits (3% over 2007), that have come
from all over Brazil and other 72 countries. The influence
of the event over the Latin American market was in evidence
once again, as the largest groups of visitors (apart from
Brazilians) came from Argentina, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, USA,
Uruguay, Colombia, Venezuela, Equator, Paraguay and Mexico.
The 15th edition of the International Fair of Products, Equipment,
Services and Technology for Hospitals, Laboratories, Pharmacies,
Health Clinics and Medical Offices counted on a record number
of exhibiting companies from 33 countries. That was the largest
edition of the fair, which presented, in 75,000 square meters
of exhibition, the most important worldwide launches in terms
of products, equipment and services for hospitals, health
clinics and medical offices.
Waleska Santos, M.D., founder and president of the fair,
highlighted that this editions success was determined
by a group of positive facts: the size of the fair has grown
by 20%, there was a larger international participation (440
foreign companies) and the visiting public was clearly very
qualified. In this edition, we have convened the most
important players of healthcares productive chain, from
reference hospitals to the most diversified industrial suppliers,
including medical doctors, nurses, laboratories, distributors
and sector leaders. Brazils President Luiz Inácio
Lula da Silva had inaugurated in the opening ceremony of the
fair, and he had assured that there will be no lack in support
for healthcare expansion in Brazil.
The fair has traditionally recorded an increase of 25% of
the annual sales turnover of the Brazilian medical-hospital
industry. In this edition, a survey carried out with the exhibitors
indicated business deals that sum up to about R$ 4.4 billion
(US$ 2,7 billion), 10% more than in 2007.
HOSPITALAR is expected to grow even more in 2009: The president
of the fair has announced an expansion of 20% in area for
HOSPITALAR 2009 (2 to 5 June, 2009 - Venue: Expo Center Norte
Exhibition Centre - São Paulo, Brazil, Rua José
Bernardo Pinto, 333, Vila Guilherme, São Paulo, Brazil.),
aiming to accommodate new exhibitors and to offer more space
for the current participating companies. It will also be possible
to accommodate the companies that were in the waiting list
for exhibition space in this edition.

WelchAllyn Launches New Universal
FlexiPort Blood Pressure Cuffs.
|
|
Today, blood pressure monitoring becomes more streamlined
with the launch of a new range of FlexiPort Blood Pressure
Cuffs, which connect to virtually any manual or electronic
blood pressure device. This universal, cost effective solution
has been developed by Welch Allyn, a leading manufacturer
of frontline medical products and solutions.
Traditional blood pressure cuffs have tubing that is permanently
attached to the cuff. There are one- and two-tube cuff versions
and both styles must be purchased in a full range of different
sizes. For the first time, FlexiPort provides a solution by
allowing users to remove and attach the tubing on the cuff
with a single universal connection point. This means that
FlexiPort cuffs can be used on one and two tube devices interchangeably.
The end results of FlexiPort technology are fewer part numbers
reduced inventories, and easier ordering.
Furthermore, its quicker and easier for nursing staff
to locate the correct cuff to help ensure an accurate diagnosis
is provided and reduce incorrect readings. The use of a cuff
that is the incorrect size in relation to limb circumference
can lead to errors of about 10mmHg but up to 30mmHg which
increases the possibility of over or underestimating blood
pressure1. Both of these conditions may lead to incorrect
treatment for the patient.
The FlexiPort feature is available for both reusable and
disposable cuffs. For more information on FlexiPort, or any
other Welch Allyn products, please contact Welch Allyn customer
services on Tel +353 46 9067790, Fax +353 46 9067754.
